Microsoft rolled out version 8.35.76.30 for the general Skype experience. This update is available to users on Android, iOS, Mac, Linux, Linux Snap, Web, Desktop, and Microsoft Store on Windows 10. There is a good reason why Skype is getting an update across platforms. Microsoft has redesigned the theme picker across Skype and added new color gradients to the experience. In terms of the theme picker, Microsoft has simplified the user interface by combining the picker with color choice. Users can still find the relevant options under the Settings menu and the Appearance drop down. As for the color gradients, Microsoft has added higher contrast colors and perked up visibility. Furthermore, Skype now gives users more control over color accents, specifically how accents work with message bubbles for message contacts. At the moment, the update is only available to Skype Insiders. If you are a tester then you can provide feedback to Microsoft for the company to improve the experience.
End of Classic
Interestingly, Microsoft has still not moved Classic Skype features over to the newer experience. Earlier this year, the company confirmed the classic version of the service will shutter this month. “You’ll soon be able to add phone numbers to existing contacts, have more control over your availability status, and more,” said a Skype spokesperson. “As we continue to focus on and improve Skype version 8, support for Skype versions 7, and below will end on November 1, 2018 on desktop devices and November 15, 2018 on mobile and tablet devices.”
