According to Microsoft, an incompatibility issue with Nvidia display driver version 358.00 or older triggers BSOD errors in Windows 10 May 2020 Update. Furthermore, an audio driver issue may also cause BSODs. Additionally, plugging or unplugging the Thunderbolt dock may also result in the same problem. All affected machines have been blocked from updating to Windows 10 May 2020 Update. However, users could still download the update manually although that is not advisable. Microsoft tells users to update drivers before installing version 2004. Not updating affected drivers could result in the BSOD errors. Users who still want Windows 10 May 2020 Update can perform a clean install to ensure a problem-free experience.
Recent BSOD Error
Last week, we reported on a BSOD error that was shipped with the KB4556799 update patch. Among the problems reported are FPS drops, audio problems, and dreaded Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) crashes. Others are pointing to network problems, user profile issues, and more. Microsoft has acknowledged the problems and says it is investigating. The company says fixes are coming. “After installing this update on a Windows 10 device with a wireless wide area network (WWAN) LTE modem, reaching the internet might not be possible,” Microsoft said.
